How It Works
Admin Side
CoveredMeds is web-based that utilizes IP address identification for access which means that you can launch our application from anywhere you can place a URL link without requiring login credentials. It also means that we can keep CoveredMeds updated with formulary changes in real time without any need for users to do anything. Administration is super simple, you can easily identify, pre-select and customize the most common insurance plans for your providers, create your own formulary for uninsured patients, customize filters to identify medications with special handling needs, and track utilization by your staff.
Clinician Side
Just click the indication you are treating and your patient's insurance plan and we show you every drug available. Green tiles are drugs that are covered without restriction, yellow tiles are a drug that requires step therapy, and red tiles are drugs that require a PA. Each tile also shows you the dosage forms available and the co-pay tier for the drug, and each tile is clickable to show you additional prescribing information including strengths available, dosing guidelines, and manufacturer info including available coupons.
Clinician Productivity
CoveredMeds identifies every available medication option to clinicians based on their patient's individual insurance plan. No more guessing and hoping it's covered and dealing with the consequences or picking poor therapies because they are cheap.
CoveredMeds has every disease, every drug, and every formulary in the nation. Just select what you’re treating, who the insurance is, and CoveredMeds will lay out every option on a silver platter. We monitor over 2,000 insurance formularies in real-time.
Improve Clinical Outcomes by ensuring your patients get the best therapies possible. Reduce Provider Stress and Workload by avoiding pharmacy rejections and PA’s. Maximize 340B Savings by targeting high-value therapies.
Clicking a tile will display additional information for each medication including strengths available, dosing guidelines and manufacturer info including details and availability of coupons and discounts.
Each tile also shows details like dosage forms available, the co-pay tier for each medication, and if there are any manufacturer discounts available.
Medications are organized by drug class and are displayed on individual tiles in three different colors. Unrestricted drugs are displayed on green tiles, drugs that require a step-therapy on yellow tiles, and drugs that require prior authorization on red tiles.
CoveredMeds URL
IP Address
Access
Implementing and administering CoveredMeds is simple and straight forward. Since accessing our portal is as simple as accessing a basic website, entities utilizing CoveredMeds can either create a link to our URL within their EMR system or place a radio button to our URL on their providers desktops where they keep other important clinical and reference tools. Access to CoveredMeds is controlled by IP address so simply require the public IP addresses for any sites or work stations that an entity would want to have access granted to. Once implemented, there are 5 simple functions that an entity administrator has control of:
Admin Productivity
Select which plans clinicians have to choose from. Just select the State and City of your clinical sites and we list every insurance formulary available in your area. They are sorted from the most common plan to the least common plan and we display the number of lives associated with each plan. We suggest limiting your bucket of selected plans to 15 which generally covers about 95% of your entity's patient population. Don’t worry, clinicians can easily search for any plan they need on the interface if the one they need isn’t listed in their bucket of preselected plans.
Customize your list of selected plans. Administrators have the ability to change the name displayed for each formulary as the actual names can be technical and lengthy and not easily recognizable by clinicians. For example, an administrator can easily change the name of the formulary “CVS Caremark Performance Standard Control w/ Advanced Specialty Control” to simply “Caremark”.
Build a custom formulary. Administrators can create their own formulary for their clinicians to utilize when their patient is uninsured and pays out of pocket for their medications or uses the entities sliding fee scale. Simply select the indication and which medications are least expensive and CoveredMeds will display only those tiles when the clinician selects the custom formulary.
Configure tile filters: CoveredMeds allows entities to create filters that can be applied to drug tiles no matter which color they appear as under a formulary. Entities can use these filters to identify drugs that may require additional attention or special handling or are carved out of the 340B drug program. They can also choose to hide any drugs so they will not be displayed if the entity does not want them being prescribed.
Analytics: CoveredMeds logs every time an indication and formulary are selected. Administrators are able to access real-time reporting that shows how frequently each formulary is selected by their staff enabling them to fine-tune their list of pre-selected plans and to see how frequently each indication is searched giving them a good idea of how well their clinical staff is utilizing the CoveredMeds platform.
